Dress of My Dreams

I found this fantastic dress designed by Setareh Mohtarez over on Luxirare, I don’t know how this has happened but I’ve noticed that a fair amount of my posts are focused around space at the moment. What does this mean!? It is purely accidental I assure you, what can I say, it appears that currently I am inspired by the starry sky. If you are in possession of a jet pack and a space suit we might just become the greatest friends.

Anyway… incase it wasn’t clear this is the dress of my dreams. It looks like it was made especially for dancing by twilight, I would get married in this dress (one day) or failing that I would settle for doing my weekly shop in this dress, regardless of how the checkout attendant would look at me.

While telling the designers in my studio exactly this – and emailing it round – it was pointed out that Christopher Kane has done something… very similar, to say the least… his Galaxy range use exactly the same method, to create the same look. Just incredibly expensive. I know the Setareh Mohtarez is likely to be just as expensive but as it is not actually defined I will be pretending it is free. Ignorance is bliss.

Vegetable Calendar

Sooooo goood!

Gorgeous vegetable calendar by Victoria Macey. It visualises the best times to grow/plant a selection of different vegetables. The calendar flips vertically for different halves of the year Summer to Winter.

Only bugger is that it’s for growing veggies in California. Someone should really make one for England then I might actually be able to keep plants alive!! …maybe. Posters can’t work miracles, Charlotte.

In a Perfect World

Found some cute illustrations over on ffffound (but I’ve lost the direct link) that depict an ideal world where nothing goes wrong!

These pics show idealisms like a pencil that you can sharpen without the lead breaking off and stickers that peel off clean from surfaces. It’s the little things, that would make the world a wonderful place.

A girl can dream, right?

Fine Little Day

Completely adorable stuff here from Fine Little Day The wallpapers were actually drawn by her 8 year old son Otto!

Love the mountain wallpaper and the moustache spoons. I would kit my entire house out with this cuteness but can’t say my Mr would be ultimately pleased. But how can anyone resist those little boats??

Have a look at Fine Little Day’s store here

Topshop Make Up

You beautiful thing.

These are the designs for the range of Topshop Make Up items and also the Spring/Summer 2010 range by Sarah Thorne a fellow University of the Arts student who graduated with a first class honors from Central Saint Martins last year and landed the job as Topshop’s Creative Designer… lucky girl!!

“Design for Topshops’ new Main line make up range. Packaging features matt grey componentry with black patterns, uncoated cartons with grey print, hand drawn illustrations and text.”

Check out the pictures of the two different ranges on her portfolio site, gorgeous stuff, cute hand drawn features.

OK Go – End Love

I bloody love OK GO. Here is their new video to End Love, can always rely on them for a cool music video, and you know I think it’s good cus I broke my own rules and embeded the ugly Youtube player! Also… guy in pink is out of sync ^_-

Enjoy!

PS. update later on this weekend, wtf have I been?! <3

Andrea Forgacs

There are some very magical people on my course at the LCC one of the most talented in the bunch is the lovely Andrea Forgacs, and it just so happened to be her birthday this weekend. ^_^

Take a look at her portfolio, blog and take a peek at her book and prints here, her work is literally everywhere and for a good reason, I think you’ll agree! <3

Feeling pretty stupid that while I had been whining last week about how tricky it is to keep working and plough through all this uni work she appears to be handling it pretty well!!

Happy birthday Andrea! x

Skateboard Animation

Just a quick post because I heart this video.

It is, for want of a better word, delightful! Must have taken a great deal of time to put together, cutting out the paper shapes from the magazines… since my square project I have a new found appreciation for the art of the scalpel!!

Very cool. Take a look!

Fluffy Thoughts, Little Doodles

I have blogged her before but I will do it again because London based Kate Wilson from Little Doodles is a brilliant illustrator.

Here are some of my favourite Christmas themed bird pics. I don’t think they could be much cuter!

Along with illustrating Kate is an awesome photographer. Take a peek at her other blogs I, Bejeweled and The Wingtipper. Magic!

Once more, with feeling

Ughh! Getting everything ready for University is a prolonged nightmare with all the postal interruptions. I have filled in my loan forms and I need 3 pieces of identification and address verification. Also, I am waiting for my bank to send me 3 months of bank statements which is supposed to take 3 days but has so far taken 10.

Basically, every single step in starting this course has been lengthened x4, because of Royal Mail’s postal strike. Mail gets to my Frome address just fine… but London? Forget it! Apparently there is a black hole between here and the postal depot which means nothing is getting through!! I have resorted to getting everything sent to Frome and then sent special delivery by my Mum to me in London, as that’s the only thing they can guarrantee at this point. Efficient huh??

Mention anything postal related to me at the moment and I suddenly become super bitchy. I can’t help it. There is a massive chance that this strike is going to cause problems for me starting uni as I am expected to PAY my tuition fees 4 weeks before I start, as enrolment is the 7th January that makes my deadline December 14th.

Because of all the previous delays I have already had (it took me about 8 weeks to receive my loan forms) unless my statements arrive *now*, get sent on to Learn Direct and then immediately approved, and then by some MIRACLE the money is instantly cleared in my account in the next 11 days… I am screwed.

Again, I would like to say a big thank you to Royal Mail on the behalf of the whole of the UK. Of course I would have sent it in writing… but I actually wanted you to get this message before February -.-
