Ah love this song… and I love these screen visuals that Steve Scott created for Led Zeppelin’s reunion concert! Mesmerising!!
These are a series of images commissioned by Jasper White for the Guardian newspaper by Andrew Macgregor, a campaign aimed to give help & advice with jobs and careers.
I still see these images all the time and wondered if the objects were originally multicoloured and then colour retouched after to give the colour spectrum effect. Apparently not! What painstaking stuff, must have taken ages to find all these different items.
Ohhh! Pretty mesmerising animations by Alex Beim, watch it the entire way through it gets even more colourful towards the end.
Alex said this:
“I programed a couple of real time animations with QC tonight. This thing is mesmerizing. You can do so much with 35 pixels.”

O hai!
So I’ve been using twitter for nearly 2 years and I thought to myself, “Why haven’t I blogged twitter yet?” so I’m going to.
For those of you who don’t know, Twitter is a social networking tool, you use it to send text updates to the people who chose to “follow” you in 140 characters or less. You can update it from your phone or your computer.
For me, I use it to keep up to date with new posts on blogs I read, design news, global news, Digg articles and like minded people! It’s nice to hear what people are up to while I’m sat at my desk, it makes the days go faster!
I use the Twitterific app to see my Twitter feed without having to go to the webpage. I know lots of people prefer TweetDeck but personally, I don’t need the instant access extra features like searches. Incoming Tweets and DM’s is all I need.
If you haven’t already, you should definitely give it a go… and feel free to add me at twitter.com/lygd

Hi
A really really clever physical interpretation of a Human Interface! By the lovely and talented Multitouch Barcelona. To see some high res pics of the Hi project click over to their Flickr Profile.
My favourite bit was the “update” ^_- I loved it!
O hai.
Just really need to rant about the ridiculousness that is the Apple Macbooks glossy screen. It’s nearly nearly Summer, so along with the warmer weather comes bright shiny sunny skies!
Which is where my problem starts. Unless I shut myself away in a dark room around mid-day I can no longer see my work on the screen! My original plan was to buy a MacBook – sell iMac – buy beautiful Apple Cinema Display but rather disappointingly they made the new displays shiny screened too!!
I have tweeted about this many many times, and I am not angry, just dissapointed. I am well aware that the shiny screen improves the quality of the image, but that is only an “improvement” if I could *see* my screen to begin with! I would personally be willing to sacrifice the quality of image with visibility. Apple used to offer two options glossy or matt with the previous MacBook Pros, I have no idea why they changed this!
Luckily for me some clever clogs, who should be making a bunch of money right now imo, has created an antiglare film that you put on the front of your screen. Win! It’s not sticky, it is infact, static. I have ordered 2 from eBay and I’m pinning all my hopes on it despite the awful reviews which you can see on this Apple Store link.
So you all know by now that I bought one of the new MacBooks back in January because I am always on-the-go with freelancing I am now hardly ever back in Somerset where my desktop is.
Now, like everyone, I am feeling the pinch and am therefore selling my iMac as I’m never home and instead thinking of investing in one of Apple’s newish cinema displays and running my Macbook as my main computer. Makes sense really!
It is a bit sad but here it is on eBay (with no reserve, so someone is going to get an absolute bargain) Intel Dual Core 1.86ghz, 20″ display, 1GB DDR2, 250GB, Super Drive, iSight, Airport, Leopard and with original packaging and disks with 1 year of Applecare left.
Complete with lots of software including the entire CS4 suite, Office 2008, Quark 8, Final Cut Pro 6 (Studio 2), Extensis Suitcase Fusion 2 with thousands and thousands of fonts and a million other handy apps so check out the listing to find out more.
It’s strange how one can become attached to an inanimate object. /Goodbye iMac!
UK designer Giles Miller makes these laptop cases (and a number of furniture pieces) from recycled cardboard. I love the way he’s altered the corrugations to create designs in the cardboard.
Sturdy, stylish, and completely sustainable, the cardboard lining the front of Miller’s tree-loving creation is 100% recycled, and the unique fluting gives its wearer the option to personalize it with custom designs such as one’s initials (or an apple logo — as shown here).

Stuart Semple created these man-made smiley clouds by the Tate Modern and let them float into the financial district. He released around 2000 of these smiley puffs, one each 7 seconds, and they last around 30 mins.
I think they are delightful, they would have definitely made my day id I had spotted one! Created with helium, soap and vegetable dye It’s a technology that’s not been seen before, but I’m sure now many people will try.
“I just wanted to make a piece of work that would cheer people up a bit. I’ve had enough of the doom and gloom in the air and I wanted to show something completely positive floating up to the sky.
This was the most straight forward way I could think of to literally contribute something happy to the atmosphere. I’m hoping it might put a smile on a few people’s faces as they go through their day. I’m also keen to help people remember that the success of British cultural industries is relatively new, the Tate itself wasn’t there a decade ago.I believe these cultural industries have been hugely important in the re-juvination of parts of the city, and a very wholesome and important contributor to the economy. I know at times like this it’s easy to make creativity a low priority but I want to show that on a very human level an artistic idea might be able to do something important even for a fleeting moment.”

Here is a great idea for the Macpad, I hope that Apple will take note of this as it’s what I think would go down a storm when they finally decide to create a touchpad based computer.
The MacPad provides all the necessary features of an ultra-portable in less than 30% of the volume of the MacBook Air. Now that is impressive. Not only is the MacPad optimized for Intel’s Atom platform, it is optimized for your mobile lifestyle. Built-in iSight camera and microphone for visual conferencing through iChat, built-in 802.11n compatible AirPort Extreme Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, A-GPS, Micro-DVI port and two USB 2.0 ports, accelerometer and ambient light sensor, this device can handle just about all of your mobile technology needs.
If the MacPad is accessible to an assigned local wireless network, it could very well start syncing any updated information wirelessly to and from your Mac. Whenever you or your MacPad needs a rest, place the device on the elegant desktop dock to begin charging. While you take your much deserved break the MacPad not only automatically syncs any updated information, the device can also be used as a secondary touch display for your desktop. The possibilities here are quite endless.
